Hello, I’m Walada,
a Spanish artist with a deep love for handmade Islamic art, Arabic calligraphy art, and Islamic geometric art.
As a Muslim born and raised in Spain, my work is deeply rooted in the artistic and spiritual legacy of Al-Andalus. Growing up between Seville and Granada, surrounded by centuries of Islamic architecture and craftsmanship, I developed a lasting connection to the visual language of Islamic art and its deeper spiritual meaning.
My artistic journey has been shaped by both tradition and experience, from studying Islamic illumination and geometry to travelling through lands where Islamic art continues to live as a vibrant tradition, including Turkey and Morocco.
Since 2017, I have created handmade Islamic wall art, Arabic calligraphy artworks, gold illumination (tezhib) floral designs, and geometric compositions, as well as teaching Islamic art and geometry internationally.
Islamic art has never been merely decorative. Through Arabic calligraphy, floral and geometric patterns, it seeks to reflect harmony, unity, and remembrance, guiding the viewer toward a deeper awareness of the Divine and tawhid.
Each piece I create is handmade and hand-painted with care and intention, combining traditional Islamic artistic principles with a contemporary sensibility. My aim is to preserve and honour the beauty of our artistic heritage while creating meaningful Islamic art for the home that brings beauty and remembrance of Allah ﷻ into everyday spaces.
“So remember Me and I will remember you.” (Qur’an 2:152)
Today, my works are part of private collections across the world, from the United States and the United Kingdom to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, France, Germany, Lebanon, Singapore, and Indonesia, alhamdulillah.
May these pieces bring light and barakah into your home,
Walada
